Dunsmuir Yaks restaurant burglary solved by deputies
DUNSMUIR, Calif. - Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office deputies solved a recent burglary and theft case that occurred at Yaks on the 5 restaurant in Dunsmuir after a brief but intense investigation. Around 7:40 a.m. on October 3, Deputy Mike Burns responded to a call of a burglary at Yaks restaurant in Dunsmuir, in the 4900 block of Dunsmuir Avenue. Restaurant employees said an unknown suspect came into the restaurant after closing time and quickly grabbed and left with two cash registers containing about $2,100 in cash. Further investigation led deputies to 20-year-old Lamont Darnell Brown, Jr., of Dunsmuir. He was found at a home in the 4300 block of Branstetter Street. Evidence of the crime was also located behind the Dunsmuir Community Health Clinic, including a tray that was suspected to have been attached to one of the stolen cash register. $40.00 worth of coins were also found at the scene.
Later, one of the cash registers was recovered at another location. After questioning Brown and recovering evidence at his location, including $1,538.55 in cash, he was arrested for the burglary.
Brown was booked into the Siskiyou County Jail, then placed on a CDRC parole hold.
