Fort Bragg homeowner detains burglar in citizen's arrest


FORT BRAGG, Calif. - On Tuesday, September 19, it was reported that the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office deputies received a call about a residential burglary in progress in the 29000 block of Highway 20 in Fort Bragg.

The call came in around 4:10 p.m. Officials said that prior to their arrival the victim, Jeremy James, restrained the suspect.

Deputies learned the victim entered his home and found the suspect inside taking his personal property. The victim carried out a citizen's arrest as the suspect tried to leave.

A search was conducted of the suspect and deputies found him in possession of several items of the victim's property. Deputies also determined the suspect entered two vehicles and attempted to remove additional property.

The suspect provided officials with a false name. Deputies later identified the suspect as Joseph Hull and he was confirmed to be on felony probation for car theft.

He was transported to the Mendocino County Jail where he is being held on $50,000 bail.
