Humboldt County inmate escapes work crew in Ferndale

FERNDALE, Calif. - The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is asking that Ferndale residents be on the lookout for an inmate who escaped from a work crew Friday.

According to the HCSO, on Dec. 1, Humboldt County Correctional Facility Inmate Jordan Benjamin Harris, 28, escaped from an inmate work crew near the Ferndale Fairgrounds just before 11 a.m. HCSO said Harris is an American Indian male, 6'0" tall, 170 lbs, with short brown hair, hazel eyes and a medium build. He has a tattoo of 'Yurok' on his neck. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans, but could possibly have only a white shirt on at this time, the HCSO said. Deputies added that Harris was last seen running on Arlington Avenue toward Fifth Street. Anyone with information on Harris' location is asked to call the sheriff's office at 707-445-7251.
