SANTA ANA, Calif. - A California teen will travel from Oregon to the Mexico border on his bike to raise money and honor California peace officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Travis Risley, the sixteen-year-old son of a Napa police officer, will embark on this 1,000 mile journey in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the California Peace Officers' Memorial Foundation (CPOMF).

CPOMF is a non-profit charitable foundation whose mission is to honor California's peace officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and also provide support to their family members.

The journey starts in Brookings Oregon at 6:30 a.m., on Friday, July 7. Risley will travel 98 miles and stop in McKinelyville before heading 68 miles to Myers Flat on July 8.

Risley is expected to reach the Mexico border on Monday, July 24.

The Napa Police Officers' Association is covering all of Risley's travel expenses, so all donations will go directly to CPOMF.
