Lockdowns Lifted for Blue Oak Charter School and Little Discoveries Preschool

Update as of 6:30 p.m.

According to Chico Police, the lockdown lasted about 45 minutes.

The code red was initiated after they received a call from someone stating they heard people screaming followed by three gunshots near the area of Blue Oak Charter School.

"An extensive search was conducted, and during that search there was no indication that anything had actually happened," said Sergeant Ben Love, a Sergeant with the Chico Police Department at (530) 897-4900.

No one was arrested in relation to the incident.

The Chico Police Department said that if anyone has any information on suspicious or criminal activity regarding this incident to please contact the Chico Police Department.

Chico police do not believe there is a threat to public safety.

Chico police have confirmed that the lockdowns for Blue Oak Charter School and Little Discoveries Preschool have been lifted.

The search for a suspect has been called off. Chico police have not arrested anyone in relation to this incident.

Chico Police confirmed on Tuesday around 11:10 a.m. that Blue Oak Charter School and Little Discoveries Preschool are both on lockdown due to reports of gunshots heard in the area.

The schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution while officers look for possible suspects.
