Burglary victims restrain suspect with zip ties until police arrive
CHICO, Calif. —
Friday morning, Chico police officers responded to a report of a residential burglary to find that the homeowner had fought with the suspect and restrained him with zip ties until police arrived.
According to the Chico Police Department, officers were called to the area of Lazy S Lane and Stilson Canyon Road around 4:30 a.m.
When they arrived, they found Kevin Govan, 31, restrained on the floor of the homes garage.
Govan was being restrained with zip ties around his writs. He had several injuries on his face from a fight with one of the residents.
Authorities found several knives in and near Govan's possession along with narcotics paraphernalia.
During an investigation it was discovered he may be responsible for several thefts or burglaries in the area, including vehicles and homes on Banner Peak Drive, Lazy S Lane, and Stilson Canyon Road.
Police said Govan is wanted on several warrants from Sacramento County and Butte County. He was arrested for burglary, theft from an automobile, possession of a switchblade knife, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
Govan was taken to the hospital for medical clearance before being booked in to the Butte County Jail.
