CHICO, Calif. — A Chico man employed with Butte County Cal Fire was charged on Monday for an alleged sexual assault that happened in Chico on July 15, 2017.
Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey announced today that Kevin Fleming, 36, is charged with one count of digital penetration of an unconscious, intoxicated female.
Fleming was identified as the suspect in the sexual assault during an investigation initially conducted by the Chico Police Department. The alleged assault happened at a private home in Chico during a social gathering on July 15, 2017.
According to Ramsey, Fleming was a Cal Fire captain with the Butte County division at the time of the alleged assault. Fleming is still employed there as a captain, though is on administrative leave at this time.
If convicted, Fleming faces the possibility of eight years in state prison, and a lifetime sexual offender registration requirement. Fleming is currently out of custody and will be arraigned on Wednesday, August 29.
