Denney falls short of 3rd Quarter goal, still outraises LaMalfa in contributions
CHICO, Calif. —
Through September 30, Democratic challenger Audrey Denney out-raised Republican incumbent Doug LaMalfa in their California 1st District congressional race.
Denney amassed $872,653 which is slightly less than the $900,000 campaign manager Brian Solecki had predicted a week earlier.
"In politics, having a healthy war chest allows us to get our message out to voters ," said Denney.
According to the Federal Election Commission, LaMalfa raised $809,721 through the same period.
ActBlue, an organization that enables Democrats and progressive groups nationwide to donate to any campaign, helped facilitate $321,181 of Denney's donations.
Many of the donations submitted through ActBlue come from outside the district.
"A lot of folks have seen me on social media and have seen me give speeches and seen what we're doing up here," said Denney about the out-of-district contributions.
Denney said her campaign will release an exact geographic breakdown of how much money is coming into her campaign from outside the district in the next few days.
The next financial report comes out on October 20, after which contributions through November 6 over $1,000 must be reported within 48 hours.
