CHICO, Calif. - A dangerous pursuit of a wanted suspect was called off after the Butte County Sheriff's Office says the public's safety was at risk.

Around 4:30 p.m. Monday, BCSO deputies tried to serve an arrest warrant on 30-year-old Ryan Scott Rash. He was wanted on a felony warrant out of Butte County for failing to complete the Butte County SWAP program.

Deputies attempted contact with him outside a home on Jasper Drive in Chico. Rash ran off and then got into a black Infiniti two-door sports car. The vehicle had passenger side door damage near the hinges.

Deputies pursued the vehicle for about 1.5 miles through residential neighborhoods. Deputies canceled the pursuit due to the high speed, moderate to heavy traffic, and Rash's complete disregard for public safety.

Anyone with information regarding Ryan Rash's whereabouts is encouraged to contact BCSO Sgt. Josh Brazzi at (530) 538-7321. All reporting parties can remain anonymous.
