First Butte Co. baby comes as surprise after 15 years of infertility
CHICO, Calif. - Rebekah and Matt Tennis welcomed their baby girl, Charlotte Rachel Tennis, early Monday morning making little Charlotte Butte County's first baby of 2018.
Charlotte was born at 12:33 a.m. at Enloe Medical Center, weighing 7-pounds, 8-ounces. Rebekah and Matt have three other children, all adopted. Cameron is 10-years-old from Pakistan, Lance is 7-years-old and Kip is 6-years-old, both from Korea.
Matt and Rebekah said that they found out they were pregnant on Mother's Day. They posted a video on Instagram that quickly went viral, reaching over 10,000 views.
The happy parents said Charlotte was the surprise of their lives after struggling with infertility for 15 years. In fact, the couple had stopped trying, and opted to adopt the three international boys instead.
"The whole thing is very, very moving, honestly," Matt said. "I'm beyond words really, to talk about it because it's so surreal to have her and for it to be first baby of the year is just blowing my mind."
The Tennis' also want to send a word of encouragement to anyone who is struggling with infertility. There are a lot of sweet children in the world who need a home and this couple said they were blessed by adoption before they were blessed with Charlotte.
Matt and Rebekah added that they had given up on the idea of conceiving a child, but didn't give up on being parents and advised anyone who would like to be parents to avoid losing hope also.
