Two hospitalized after head-on crash on Highway 99
GRIDLEY, Calif. —
Two people were hospitalized after a head-on rollover crash on Highway 99 in Gridley Tuesday morning.
Crews responded to southbound Highway 99 near Magnolia Street around 6 a.m.
Gridley police said three vehicles were involved. A Nissan passenger vehicle, a GMC Arcadia, and a Mercedes SUV.
Police said the GMC Arcadia was traveling northbound when it collided with the Mercedes SUV, which was traveling southbound. Police said the GMC Arcadia rolled over and the driver of the vehicle had to be extricated and was transported to Enloe Hospital with major but not life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mercedes SUV was transported to Orchard Hospital but was later transported to Enloe Hospital.
Police said the driver of the Nissan passenger vehicle transported themselves to the hospital after the collision.
Two lanes were blocked until about 7:45 a.m.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but at this time police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were factors.
Police said the California Highway Patrol and Gridley Public Works were a huge help with this incident.
