Man killed in Chico officer-involved shooting identified
CHICO, Calif. - The Butte County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed during an officer-involved shooting on Tuesday.
Eddie Gabriel Sanchez, 34, of Paradise was shot and killed during a "gun-battle" with Chico police at a home on Pomona Avenue, near West 7th Street.
According to police, Sanchez was a suspect in a recent string of convenience store robberies. Investigators went to the home to talk to Sanchez.
Officers said they confronted Sanchez in the front yard of the home when pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers. Police said a gun battle took place, with Sanchez being killed.
According to court records, Sanchez had an extensive criminal history.
