Update: National Weather Service expires Butte Co. tornado warning
BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. —
Update as of 3:24 p.m.:
The National Weather Service has allowed the tornado warning for Butte County to expire.
Meteorologist Rob Elvington said high winds and heavy rain can still be seen in the area where the warning was issued.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Butte County through 3:30 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Biggs and is moving to the northeast at 15 to 20 mph.
The National Weather Service says flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur and tree damage is likely.
The storm is expected to near Oroville and Thermalito through 3:30 p.m.
