Police look for information about shots fired at Costco parking lot
CHICO, Calif. —
Chico police are asking for the public's help to find out more information about shots fired in the Costco parking lot on Tuesday night.
It happened in the 2100 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway around 8:45 p.m.
No one was shot, and police say they found shell casings in the parking lot. They are still looking for the person responsible.
Police say they assume there is a victim, but none have been identified.
No damage was found or reported to any of the surrounding cars or buildings.
Brian Dunlap, a Costco shopper, said he isn't too concerned about the shooting.
"I'm not going to just come to my own conclusions about what was going on," Dunlap said. "And again, it seems to be just a one-off random event. So, you know, like I said, it's always possible to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but always worrying about that is no way to live your life."
Dunlap's attitude matched the attitudes of many other shoppers.
Those who heard about the shooting were not deterred from shopping at Costco the next day.
The Chico PD's investigation is ongoing, and they're encouraging anyone with information about the incident to contact them at (530) 897-4900.
