Pursuit in Chico ends after suspect falls in pool

KRCR

Chico police arrested a suspect Friday morning after he fell into a backyard pool.

According to police, the pursuit started around 2:15 a.m. Friday when an officer saw a Honda Civic driving recklessly with an obscured license plate and incorrect registration tab. The officer tried to pull the car over but it sped off through an orchard near West 8th Avenue.

The car crashed into a utility trailer and the driver, 28 year-old Patrick Dowell-Rollins, began running. As he ran through yards he fell into a backyard pool which allowed police to catch up and arrest him.

Dowell-Rollins was found with meth when he was arrested, according to police. He was taken to the Butte County Jail and is charged with felony evading a peace officer while driving a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting/obstructing/delaying a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, and violation of probation.

The Honda Civic had been reported stolen from Chico.
