Chico police said two people were arrested after an armed robbery late Sunday.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. on the bike path along Big Chico Creek north of downtown.

Police said two men came up to the victim and demanded his cell phone, along with other items. One of them was holding a handgun, according to police, which they later determined to be a "very realistic imitation handgun."

Police arrested 19-year-old Jonah Young-Gary, of Sacramento, on Broadway after a brief chase.

The second suspect, a 17-year-old from Stockton, was stopped a couple miles away. He had been riding a bike, according to authorities, adding that he had the imitation handgun and the victim's cell phone.

The 17-year-old was taken to Butte County Juvenile Hall for providing false information to a police officer, as well as robbery.

Young-Gary was booked into Butte County Jail for resisting arrest, providing false information to a police officer, and robbery.
