Bikes intended for Carr Fire kids stolen on Tuesday

A few bikes that were intended for families affected by the Carr Fire were stolen Tuesday night.

Bicycles that were intended for families affected by the Carr Fire were stolen Tuesday night.

The Chain Gang Bike Shop in Redding said on Tuesday someone had cut through their back fence and broke into their trailer that was parked in their back lot. Inside were nine bikes for Carr Fire families.

Three of the donated specialized bikes that were stolen were meant to be given to three families hoping to gift their children with a new bike after losing everything.

Now the bike shop is desperately reaching out to anyone to help get the bikes back.

"Because a lot of people actually do you know...a lot of work went into getting these bikes here and a lot of good people donated them. It was for a really good cause and to see somebody do something like that is very disheartening," said Eric Geist assistant manager at the bike shop.

We reached out to Redding police this afternoon to see if there were any leads on suspects however we have not received a call back.
