Carr Fire continues, concerns from community of Lakehead grows
LAKEHEAD, Calif. —
As the Carr Fire continues to grow, so do the concerns of the community of Lakehead in Shasta County.
A few Lakehead residents said yesterday, fire crews and trucks were in their neighborhood on Pine Street throughout the day, going around placing tags on mailboxes and homes in their neighborhood.
John Young who lives in the area said fire crews from out of the area were surveying the area and speaking to residents.
Young said he and his neighbors gathered around and spoke to them about what they were doing.
He said they were told they're checking water sources, checking on defensible space around homes and how many residents were living in the homes in the area.
Overall, Young expressed with everything going on, he’s very concerned for what could happen.
“Ever since it started at Whiskeytown. It’s very dry up here. A lot of fuel, a lot of winds, limited resources, it's not a whole lot going for it. I mean they're doing everything they can, but being there's fires from here to LA, sources are limited," said Young.
Young and other residents said if they are told to evacuate, they’re already packed up to leave the area.
