REDDING, Calif. — Shasta County Supervisors considered two letters in a public hearing this afternoon: letter 'A' to oppose the proposed move of Win-River Casino to Redding Rancheria owned land next to Interstate 5, south of south Bonnyview Road, and letter 'B' to express serious concerns.
In the end, they chose letter 'A' to oppose the project.
That was in front of an almost packed board chambers, filled with primarily supporters of the project.
And it was after hearing from several speakers on both sides of the issue, including tribal officials.
In the end, the board voted unanimously to oppose the project saying the tribe pays no taxes to support county services and the casino gets the highest number of calls for service of anywhere in the county.
Again, the ultimate decision of whether the casino moves is made by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, that's expected by the end of the year.
