Retired sergeant John Greene running for Shasta County Sheriff

Retired Shasta County Sheriff's Sergeant John Greene running for the Shasta County Sheriff.

Greene plans to run on the June 2018 ballot for Shasta County Sheriff against current Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko.

Greene retired last year after working with the Shasta County Sheriff's office for 27 years but said he's ready to come back to be a breath of fresh air for the county.

He said he believes he can bring fresh ideas to the county if he is elected as sheriff.

"What I would like to see is a complete collaboration between the board of supervisors, the city of Shasta Lake managers, the City of Anderson Council, every local law enforcement agency, Anderson PD, Redding PD, along with sheriff's office, get together and break this problem down to community countywide issue and come up with ideas, that we can put to the citizens, that we can put to the voters, to alleviate these problems we have," said Greene.

Greene has worked in a variety of areas in the department during his career, including administration. Greene said he is passionate about becoming sheriff and wants the county to thrive under new leadership.
