Sheriff Tom Bosenko seeks fourth term as Shasta County Sheriff

Sheriff Tom Bosenko

Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko has announced that he plans to run for reelection in June. Bosenko has served three terms as the Shasta County Sheriff, since 2006.

Bosenko said he has received rewards for gun associations for supporting gun rights. He also said he wants to improve his department partnership with the police departments in Redding Anderson for the next term.

Since he took office, Bosenko said he has found ways to cut down on departments budget, incorporated tasers for his officers and expanded the K-9 program. Along with his plan of increasing jail space at the Shasta County Jail, Bosenko said he also plans to expand his own department.

"More positions of deputy sheriffs on the street, more boots on the ground during our investigations, expanding our recruiting process, which we have over the years. And I've always have been active in the community and community organizations to hear from the public, " said Bosenko.

Bosenko does have one competitor at this time. Retired Sergeant John Greene is challenging Bosenko and has 27 years experience working for the Shasta County sheriffs office. Greene said there needs to be a change in leadership and that the jail space issue has not been resolved, even when grant opportunities were available.

California's primary election is scheduled for June 5, 2018.
