MOUNTAIN GATE, Calif. - Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit have taken over the investigation into a missing Shasta County woman.
The Shasta County Sheriff's Office said Sherri Papini, 34, was reported missing Wednesday around 6 p.m. after her husband couldn't find his wife or two children at home. They said the children were picked up from daycare by family and are safe.
Authorities said Sherri Papini, 34, was last seen in the area near Sunrise Drive and Sundust Road near Old Oregon Trail as she went for a jog around 2 p.m.
Papini is an adult white woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. She weighs 100 lbs. and is 5'4". She was last seen wearing a pink running outfit.
K-9 units assisted deputies' search efforts, as well as a helicopter.
