Casa Ramos Yreka addresses Wednesday raids
YREKA, Calif. —
The Casa Ramos headquarters in Yreka announced on Thursday that all 14 Casa Ramos locations would be open for business on Thursday.
Casa Ramos was forced to close all of its locations on Wednesday following search warrants being served at each restaurant.
According to a post on Casa Ramos' Yreka location Facebook page, the raids came as a result of Casa Ramos being accused of not reporting sales tax correctly by a disgruntled former employee.
According to Casa Ramos, the charge is being investigated and will not affect daily operations.
The post explains that the former employee was terminated in 2016 due to the "discovery of the numerous unethical business practices."
The California Department of Justice spokesperson declined to comment due to the fact that the investigation is ongoing.
A few customers at the Casa Ramos restaurant located on Hilltop Drive stopped by for lunch and said they were shocked to hear that the restaurants were closed on Wednesday, and were unaware about the investigation and that they enjoy their service and food.
"Like we eat here, like frequently. But the fact that it's just being closed just you know, something that you don't think about," said Amanda Smith from Redding. "They always make sure you have what you need they always. I mean they're always on top of everything super friendly, never had an issue."
Casa Ramos has filed civil proceedings against the former employee.
