REDDING, Calif. — Are you in need of food? If you are, there will be several drive-thru food distributions in Redding hosted by Dignity Health Connected Living in August.
The food distributions do not require an application or pre-registration and are open to people of all walks of life who might be low income, disabled, unemployed, or over the age of 60.
Dignity Health Connected Living has been hosting food distributions for a while with the help of two full-time employees and over 100 volunteers.
And now with the COVID-19 pandemic, they say they have fewer volunteers but are serving about 50% more people than they usually do.
"Every community needs a food bank. Every food bank needs resources for people because there are so many people that just can't make it from one month to the next. Sometimes they are just short at the end of the month, some people just don't have enough to get through the whole month depending on family size," says Staci Wadley, the Senior Director of Operations.
Wadley says since the start of the pandemic, they have served about 16,000 people per month.
In August, there will be four different distributions at 100 Mercy Oaks Drive in Redding including:
Right now, they aren't taking food donations but you can donate monetarily.
