Homes destroyed, evacuations issued as Fawn Fire explodes in size
REDDING, Calif. — Multiple homes have been destroyed in the area to the northeast of Redding as the Fawn Fire explodes in size in Shasta County.
KRCR Chief Photographer Adam Mcallister captured video showing multiple homes burning in the area of Old Oregon Trail and Sunrise Drive.
Numerous evacuation orders and warnings have been issued due to the Fawn Fire, which has burned more than 1,200 acres and is only 5% contained.
AREAS UNDER MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDERS
- All of Holiday Road south of Old Oregon Trail
- All areas north of Old Oregon Trail at Akrich Street north to Pine Grove Avenue and east of Interstate 5. That includes the Tierra Oaks Subdivision in northeast Redding.
- All roads off of Old Oregon Trail in both directions between Bear Mountain north to Interstate 5.
- All Roads off Bear Mountain Road in both directions to Dry Creek Road and Old Oregon Trail.
The Fawn Fire is spotting near Bear Mountain Road where flames are actively burning near homes. Fire crews are aggressively attacking the fire from the air and on the ground in the area.
AREAS UNDER AN EVACUATION WARNING
- All areas north of Highway 299 and east of Interstate 5 to Dry Creek Road that are not currently under an evacuation order
- All roads west of Interstate 5 to the railroad tracks south of Bass Drive to Old Oregon Trail
- All roads west of Interstate 5 to Ashby Road between Pine Grove Avenue and Shasta Dam Blvd.
An evacuation shelter has been set up at the First Church of the Nazarene located at 2225 Bechelli Lane in Redding.
