Fatal crash in east Redding on Wednesday evening
REDDING, Calif. — A 22-year-old from Anderson has died following a crash in east Redding on Wednesday evening.
At 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Redding police said they responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash in the area of Old Oregon Trail and Dir Kinder Drive.
When RPD arrived, they said they found a 2002 Honda Accord with major damage in a field just west of Old Oregon Trail. Officers found the driver of the Accord, a 22-year-old from Anderson, ejected from the vehicle and pronounced them dead at the scene.
After a preliminary investigation, RPD said the driver of the Accord was traveling southbound on Old Oregon Trail at a high rate of speed when they crossed over the double yellow lines and collided with a 2014 Ford F-150 driven by a 62-year-old man from Castella. RPD said the Accord continued southbound before crashing into a tree and coming to a stop in a field.
RPD said the driver of the Accord wasn't wearing their seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, resulting in fatal injuries.
