Firefighters from Southern California were in the right place at the right time when a motorhome fire broke out in South Chico.

A Long Beach City fire engine was returning from the Dixie Fire when the crew happened to see a fire break out in the Comanche Creek Greenway.

They took immediate action and were able to knock down the motorhome fire within five minutes.

The Chico Fire Department arrived quickly on scene and extinguished the fire, which was first reported around 10:15 a.m. Thursday.

Fire officials tell KRCR News Channel 7's Ryan Matthey that the motorhome is now unliveable. Nobody was inside at the time and no injuries were reported.

The motorhome had reportedly been parked at that location for months.
