WILLOWS, Calif. — The Willows Fire Department and Cal Fire are responding to a fire at a calplant in Willows near Highway 162, where a total of seven lines of hay bales are completely engulfed by fire.
Currently, firefighters are working to keep the fire from spreading to other hay bales at the incident.
According to Willow Fire, the fire has burned stacks all the way to Road 53.
Fire crews say houses are being protected from ember wash now.
It is unknown how many total haystacks are on fire at this time.
According to the Willows Fire Department, high winds were impeding the progress to contain the fire from spreading to other hay bales and are still working to keep the fire from spreading.
Multiple engines have responded to the scene and crews could be there for up to 12 hours.
This comes after lightning strikes have caused fires around the county according to Willow Fire Department.
