The community of Greenville was completely evacuated before the town was destroyed by the Dixie Fire. Dozens of buildings and homes burned, including the Greenville Rancheria Medical and Dental clinic in Greenville, Ca.
Staff members for the rancheria said the only thing left standing for Greenville Rancheria after the fire ripped through the town, is their eagle statue located in the front of their once standing building.
"As of yesterday, around 4 PM, the rest of Greenville was evacuated due to the fire," said Lucretia Fletcher, Executive Director for Greenville Rancheria.
"The town of Greenville has been completely evacuated and destroyed by the Dixie fire, so our facilities medical and dental have been burned by the fire along with our fire and EPA building. The only thing that is standing currently for Greenville Rancheria in the town of Greenville, is our eagle statue."
It is still emotionally devastating and heartbreaking for many of the employees and staff of Greenville from the distraction of the Dixie fire.
"We lost everything up there in Greenville. That is are our main hub. This is our satellite office down here in Red Bluff. But in general, all of our historical document everything, all the stuff that we’ve ever had any kind of paperwork, everything," said Angela Martin, Elected Tribal Chair for Greenville Rancheria.
Staff members said they are moving forward and reaching out to tribal members, employees, and the community of Greenville to relocate them and reach out to resources for those impacted.
"Community members, tribal members, and anyone else in need in the Greenville area, in-valley, and the Indian Valley are encouraged to call Greenville Rancheria 530-528-3484, where an operator will be on the phone to assist those in need," said Scott Harding, Chief Information Officer.
