Lab 24 provides free COVID-19 test with rapid 48 hour result turnaround
REDDING, Calif. — Lab 24 is Redding’s newest location where you can come and get a free COVID-19 test with a quick 48-hour result turn around.
They’re able to conduct the COVID test itself and give patients their results within 48 hours — and in some cases, you may get same-day results.
This new development gave them the ability to oversee roughly 6,000 tests within the last month, and it will soon allow them to provide up to 1,000 tests a day.
The new first-come first-serve basis testing site doesn’t require an appointment, but it does ask you to bring insurance (if you have any) and be ready to fill out some paperwork prior to your nose swab.
Lab 24’s CEO, John Serle, says they’re thrilled to now be able to provide quick test results to those who need it — like those who need to go back to work in a timely fashion.
“Our local companies depend on their employees, and without them, your company suffers,” said Serle “We wanted to find a way to turn that around, whether that’s your long-term care staff, or your local mechanic who needs to be back to help other people with cars and fix tires and engines to get those folks back on the road. So, I guess at the end of the day, that’s really why we have this — we really wanted to find a way to help everyone.”
Serle also says they are only using the PCR testing — also known as the nasal swab — which according to the FDA is the most accurate and reliable form of COVID testing.
According to Serle, those who don’t have insurance can still receive a test due to the federal CARES Act.
Lab 24 is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and it is located at 475 Knollcrest Drive, Redding, CA 96002.
