YREKA, Calif. — The Yreka CHP office is seeking information about a man's whereabouts prior to a fatal crash that took the life of a 26-year-old man Sunday evening.
Officials said at about 5:01 p.m., the Yreka Communications Center received a 911 call from a person reporting a white flatbed pickup "swerving badly" while traveling northbound on Old Highway 99, near Pumphouse Road, in the Grenada area.
At 5:02 p.m., before the Yreka Communications Center could broadcast the call to officers, the pickup crossed over the center line of the roadway and collided head-on with a southbound Ford Focus, instantly killing the driver, identified as Dustyn Crowe, 26, from Yreka.
Officials said when Yreka CHP officers arrived at the scene and began to investigate, they determined the driver of the pickup, identified as Tyler Michael Adams-Warf, 22, from Yreka, was driving under the influence at the time of the crash.
Adams-Warf was arrested for felony DUI at the scene, transported by ambulance to Fairchild Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries, and was then cleared for booking into the Siskiyou County Jail.
The Yreka California Highway says they are working with the Siskiyou County District Attorney's Office regarding all applicable charges for this collision.
If anyone has information regarding Adams-Warf's whereabouts prior to the collision please call CHP Officer Ryan Reeder or Officer Shawn Gordon at 530-842-0530.
