OROVILLE, Calif. — A 32-year-old local man was caught stealing minibikes from a Tractor Supply in Oroville early Monday morning.
According to police, their officers were dispatched to the Tractor Supply Co., off Feather River Boulevard, at around 3:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a burglary alarm at the business.
Officers responded to the scene and found a hole cut in the fence surrounding the store.
While checking the area, police said their officers found two motorized Coleman Minibikes, worth an estimated $1,300, in a vacant lot to the west of the Tractor Supply. They confirmed the items were stolen from inside the store's storage yard.
Officers found the thief hiding in bushes near the bikes and detained him; he was identified as 32-year-old David Lee Farris of Oroville.
According to officials, Farris admitted to breaking into the business and stealing the bikes. He was then booked into the Butte County Jail for grand theft and vandalism.
Additionally, the bikes were returned to the Tractor Supply. Anyone with information regarding his incident, or anyone who may have witnessed it, should contact the Oroville Police Department at (530) 538-2448.
