A pilot walked away from a small plane crash at the Red Bluff Airport Sunday evening.

The plane crash-landed and overturned around 6 p.m., according to the Red Bluff Police Department.

When first responders arrived, the pilot was standing outside of the overturned plane, uninjured.

As authorities explained, a rough landing turned into a close call for the pilot.

The aircraft's left wheel touched down first onto the runway, which caused the aircraft to bounce and the pilot to lose control and the plane's left wing to hit the ground," the Red Bluff Police Department said in a statement. "The plane then flipped onto its top where it came to a stop in the middle of the runway.

KRCR viewer Dan Ryant took video showing the overturned plane being towed away shortly after the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Red Bluff Police Department, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
