PASKENTA, Calif. — An illegal outdoor marijuana grow was found Wednesday while officers with the Tehama County Probation Department (TCPD) were conducting a home compliance check.
Probation officers said they were contacting an offender on mandatory supervision at their listed home in Paskenta when the probation department found 887 marijuana plants on the property.
"We do an assessment on all of our offenders, and they are high, medium and low risk," Tehama County's Chief Probation Officer, Richard Muench, told KRCR. "The high-risk offenders, we see a minimum of twice a month. This individual was high-risk and we were on our second visit in a 30-day period and he had recently moved. So, we were checking at this new address and ran across the larger grow."
All the plants were eradicated with the help from the Tehama County Major Crimes Unit as well as Tehama County Code Enforcement.
