REDDING, Calif.- The Redding Rancheria is donating $20,000 to Butte County tribes impacted by the devastating North Complex Fire.
The money is going to the Mooretown Rancheria of Maidu Indians and the Berry Creek Rancheria of Tyme Maidu Indians. Each tribe is receiving $10,000.
Tribal members are among those who lost their homes and are in desperate need of help, said Maria Orozco, Director of Public Relations for the Redding Rancheria.
Checks were presented in two ceremonies on Friday, which falls on California Native American Day. The holiday is celebrated on the last Friday of September.
