Section of Interstate-5 closed due to wildfire near Hornbrook
HORNBROOK, Calif. —
[UPDATE 7/5/18 11:55 p.m] Interstate 5 near the Oregon/California border will be closed for the rest of the night due to the Klamathon Fire. CalTrans District 2 officials are asking travelers to limit their drives and stay in Redding or further south in Red Bluff or Corning until the road is clear,
CalTrans says travelers, especially commercial trucks on freight routes/schedules, can drive through Weed and SR97 without stopping. Just remember the route will be congested and to be alert and drive slowly.
CalTrans says it won't be able to give an update about I-5, until 6,7 or 8 in the morning.
[UPDATE 7/5/18 9:00 p.m] ODOT does not advise drivers to take Oregon 66 for commercial motor vehicles.
[UPDATE 7/5/18 5:42 p.m] Oregon Department of Transportation says Highway 273, Old Siskiyou Highway, at the junction with Oregon Highway 66 is closed to southbound traffic.
ODOT is stopping all southbound traffic at exit 14 in Ashland.
A section of Interstate-5 is closed because of the fire near Hornbrook.
Oregon Department of Transportation says I-5 southbound is closed at milepost 14 in Ashland. California Highway Patrol has asked ODOT to stop all traffic coming into California.
According to Trip Check, all southbound traffic is re-routed at exit 11 in Ashland.
I-5 northbound is closed at the North Yreka exit.
