FINAL UPDATE, NOV. 18, 7:11 AM:

The California Highway Patrol released more information on the crash on Skyway on Thursday evening in Chico.

At around 5:15 p.m., the CHP said their officers were requested to respond to a crash on westbound Skyway near Santa Rosa Road.

The CHP determined Ethan Wells, 20, of Chico was driving his 2009 Hyundai Accent at an unknown speed when, for an unknown reason, his vehicle drifted over the median and into the eastbound lane. At this point, the front of Wells' Hyundai crashed with the front of a 2019 Ford F150 being driven by Michael David Gordon of Magalia, 64.

CHP officers arrived on the scene and said they found Wells and his passenger, 18-year-old Tyler Aaron Vincent of Chico, suffering major injuries. Additionally, Gordon—the driver of the F150—was also found with major injuries. All three were transported to Enloe Medical Center.

During this, the CHP said three other vehicles crashed into each other in the westbound lanes of Skyway, near the same area. However, nobody was injured.

Officials said they don't currently know if distracted driving or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol was a factor in this collision.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
