REDDING, Calif. — A wanted felon and his passenger were both arrested by the Redding Police Department (RPD) on Wednesday morning after police say they found two guns and ammunition in the car.
Officers first pulled over 28-year-old Nicklas Byrd around 10 a.m. for a stop sign violation near Cedars Road and Kenyon Drive.
The first officer noticed a sawed-off shotgun between the driver's side door and the seat, and a second officer saw another gun, a loaded .22 caliber revolver, protruding from under the front passenger seat, according to the RPD.
Both Byrd and the passenger, 28-year-old Jessica McBroome, were detained.
Police learned Byrd was a convicted felon on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) and is not allowed to possess a gun or ammunition. He also had an active warrant for theft-related charges, police say.
Byrd was booked into the Shasta County Jail for gun possession-related charges, violation of his PRCS conditions, driving on a suspended license, and for the warrant.
McBroome was booked into jail for carrying a loaded and concealed firearm.
