Breaking: Weather Warning in Shasta County for Thursday night

Update, 6:50 p.m., May 25 — The National Weather Service in Sacramento says showers and thunderstorms are continuing over Shasta County.

According to the NWS, the storms are expected to be over Red Bluff within the next half-hour and might include brief, heavy rain and small hail.

Breaking, 6:20 p.m., May 25 — The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Special Weather Statement for areas of Shasta County on Thursday night.

According to the NWS, people in the Shasta Lake, Shasta Dam, Whiskeytown Lake and surrounding areas might experience gusty winds up to 40 mph, along with half-inch sized hail, lightning and local very heavy rains.

The NWS says boaters out on Whiskeytown and Shasta Lake should seek safe harbor and move to shelter. The SWS lasts through 6:45 p.m. Thursday night.
