Weaverville's Red Dragon Restaurant damaged in traffic collision
WEAVERVILLE, Calif. - Weaverville's Red Dragon Restaurant was damaged Friday morning after a traffic accident led to a vehicle hitting its outside wall, creating a hole.
According to the CHP, Michael Archibald, 68, was driving his 2002 Ford Explorer northbound on Oregon Street and was slowing for a stop sign at the intersection of Oregon and Main Street. Jerry Moody, 75, was driving his 1975 Kenworth eastbound on Oregon Street, approaching Main Street.
Officials said Archibald failed to stop for the stop sign and entered the intersection just as Moody was driving by. Archibald was unable to avoid a collision with Moody and hit the rear end of Moody's vehicle.
Moody continued through the intersection and hit the outside wall of the Red Dragon Restaurant, located at 625 Main Street. The force of the impact caused the outer wall of the building to partially collapse.
Moody's vehicle sustained major damage and he was transported to Trinity Hospital for evaluation. Archibald was uninjured.
Officials said the restaurant was closed at the time of the collision and there was nobody inside.
