First responders on scene of crash involving tow truck and car
SHASTA, Calif. - First responders are at the scene of a crash involving a tow truck and a Ford Taurus in the area of Highway 299W and Rock Creek Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at 1:44 p.m. Thursday as a truck versus a sedan and both vehicles had gone off the embankment.
When first responders arrived on scene they found a flatbed tow truck and a Ford Taurus were involved and both vehicles were off the road and down a small embankment.
Our reporter on scene said they had to extricate a woman from the vehicle and she was then transported to the hospital with major injuries. The tow truck driver was transported with minor injuries.
Officials said the cause of the crash is still under investigation but that the tow truck, which was traveling eastbound on Highway 299, may have crossed over the double yellow lines. The Ford Taurus was traveling westbound on Highway 299.
