Former Republican Congressional Candidate denied an Airbnb booking
REDDING, Calif. —
Former Republican Congressional Candidate Gregory Cheadle said he was denied an Airbnb booking because of his political viewpoints.
Cheadle said he made a reservation at an Airbnb a week ago, in Sacramento to take a bar exam, but the owner canceled the request.
Cheadle said at first he thought Airbnb had mistakenly canceled the booking, but then he noticed a message from the owner saying he thought Cheadle's political viewpoints oppose his lifestyle.
The owner said in the message that he apologizes for the inconvenience.
Cheadle posted what happened to his Facebook page.
He explained to KRCR why he decided to make the incident public. "Because we as a country are not going to progress with all this fragmentation and that was the reason for putting it on Facebook," Cheadle said.
KRCR News reached out to the owner of the Airbnb for comment and said he does not have a comment on the matter.
