Update: Motorcyclist killed in 299 crash identified

The Shasta County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed in the crash as Ulysses Allen Jones, 30, of Redding.

His next-of-kin has been notified and a postmortem examination has been scheduled.

Update as of 12:05 p.m.:

Both lanes of Highway 299 west have reopened.

Update as of 11:45 a.m.:

According to Officer Morton with the California Highway Patrol, both lanes of Highway 299 west are expected to open around 12:15 p.m.

Officer Morton confirmed that the motorcyclist who was killed in the crash was a 30-year-old man from Redding. The driver of the blue van was an 81-year-old man from Redding.

The coroner is on scene.
