New apartment complex be might coming to downtown Redding
REDDING, Calif. —
A new apartment complex may be coming to downtown Redding if the permit application gets approved.
Redding Planning Commission held a meeting Tuesday afternoon on the proposed project's applications.
The developers, BV Holdings LLC, is hoping to construct a 3-story building mixed apartment unit with a restaurant at the ground floor level at the corner of Placer and Pine Street. It's a private development according to Planning Commision Manager Paul Hellman, so the apartment isn't a public funding for affordable housing.
The vacant property where the developers hope to build the apartment used to be the home of Carl's Automotive and Tire Center.
Hellman said if their application is approved by the commission, the developers already have a layout of what they want to create in the space.
"It would be like I said, a 3-story building, ground level will be a 5,000 square foot restaurant. And then the second and third floor would be eight units each, so a total of 16 units, and they're proposing a parking lot in the back of the building for 16 cars," said Hellman.
As for the restaurant, Hellman said the commission wouldn't know what kind of restaurant would be placed in the complex.
He said, so far there haven't been any opposing views that he's aware of for this possible development. If their application is approved, the developers could decide to start constructions this year or in 2019.
At the time of this article being published, the planning commission did not respond for comment on the outcome of the vote.
