The cities of Chico and Redding have new leadership, after the city councils swore in new members Tuesday night.

As their first actions, the councils both selected who will serve as mayor and vice mayor.

The Redding City Council swore into office two new members, Erin Resner and Michael Daquisto. The council voted to appoint Julie Winter to serve as mayor. Adam McElvain was elected as vice mayor. Incumbent Kristen Schreder started her new term after being reelected in November.

Outgoing council members Francie Sullivan and Brent Weaver were recognized for their service. Sullivan was defeated in the November election, and Weaver chose not to seek reelection.

In Chico, the city swore in three new council members, including Alex Brown, Scott Huber and Kasey Reynolds.

The council selected Randall Stone to serve as mayor, and newcomer Alex Brown was elected vice mayor.

Incumbents Mark Sorensen and Reanette Fillmer did not seek reelection. Incumbent Andrew Coolidge was defeated in his bid for a new term.

The council members will serve four-year terms.
