According to Anderson Police, a hit and run collision at the intersection of Balls Ferry Road and Ventura Street in Anderson Friday left five people injured.

Officers arrived on scene around 11:13 a.m. and identified two vehicles blocking the intersection, a maroon Toyota Highlander with seven passengers inside, many of whom were injured, and a white Chevy van left running with no one inside.

Officers began administering first aid to the injured passengers, two of which were juveniles. Five of the seven passengers were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Witnesses told officers that a man and a woman had run from the scene after the collision and also gave descriptions of both subjects. Anderson police were able to track down the woman within minutes, just two blocks west of the scene.

The woman was identified as Alena Sogoian and a records check revealed three outstanding warrants for her arrest.

A witness at the scene was able to positively identify Sogoian as the driver of the vehicle and stated she had run a red light causing the collision. The white van she was driving had been reported stolen in Red Bluff earlier that morning.

Sogoian was placed under arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle, hit and run causing injury, false identification to a peace officer, driving with a suspended license and on her outstanding warrants.

The man is still outstanding and is described as 20 to 30 years of age with a thin build and short, dark curly hair.
