UPDATE: Missing woman with dementia found safe

According to Redding police, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a citizen called to report finding Janet Berry Linville acting confused in the parking lot of the Holiday Market on Deschutes Road. The Silver Alert was cancelled by The California Highway Patrol.


Redding Police are searching for a missing at-risk elderly woman.

Janet Berry Linville of Oak Run was in the area of Raley's Shopping Center with her husband. Linville got into the driver’s seat of their truck and left her husband in the parking lot. She suffers from severe dementia and is easily confused and disorientated. Linville has not driven in over 3 years, and was last seen driving a green 1998 Toyota Tacoma, extended cab, with California license plate 7U37556.

Multiple officers checked the surrounding areas, as well as locations that Linville might try to visit, but could not locate her. The California Highway Patrol Air Operations unit also assisted with searching the Oak Run area.

Janet Linville is described as 5’7”, 170 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a blue blouse and white pants. Linville also wears a large owl pendant around her neck.

A Silver Alert is being issued by the California highway Patrol.
