Redding doctor charged for inappropriate touching of patients

Hamid Rabiee

A Redding physician has been charged with multiple felonies related to inappropriate physical contact with patients.

On Thursday, the Shasta County District Attorney's Office filed criminal charges against Hamid Rabiee. Rabiee is a neurologist in Redding.

According to the DA's office, the criminal complaint alleges nine felony counts, including sexual exploitation of a patient, sexual battery by restraint, and false imprisonment. Officials noted that all of the charges relate to Dr. Rabiee’s inappropriate physical conduct toward patients under his care.

The criminal complaint alleges crimes against four separate women patients over an approximate five year period. All of the alleged victims approached investigators independently and were not aware of the other victims’ allegations.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Redding Police Department into multiple complaints of inappropriate and unwelcome physical contact by Dr. Rabiee.

Each of the charges involves Dr. Rabiee touching intimate parts of the victims’ bodies including their breasts, buttocks, and vaginal area. These acts were done under the guise of legitimate medical treatment.

The police investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the investigations division of the Redding Police Department.
