Woman in critical condition after being hit by vehicle in Redding

UPDATE AS OF 5:45 P.M. ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 17:

One woman is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle while in the crosswalk at Cypress Avenue at Beverly Drive Friday morning.

According to police, it happened around 10:46 a.m. when witnesses reported that Danielle Davis, 37, of Redding was walking south in the marked crosswalk.

Police say witnesses saw a truck in the westbound middle lane stop for Davis and say Trista Humiston, 37, of Redding was also driving westbound on Cypress Ave. and failed to yield for Davis.

According to the Redding police, Humiston collided into Davis, causing major injuries. Davis was then transported to Mercy Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the collision.

Redding police responded to Cypress Avenue shortly after noon on Friday for a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle.

Officers say the pedestrian was crossing the street in the crosswalk when she was hit. The woman was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Traffic in the area of Cypress Avenue and Rosemary Avenue is being impacted due to the investigation. Please avoid the area if possible.
