Redding teenager plans one last Gene's Drive-In meet up

"RIP Gene's Drive-In" that's what Enterprise High School student Caleb Hurst is calling the event he's planning for Saturday in Redding.

Hurst is a classic car lover and the vice president of his school' s auto club. One of his favorite things to do was meet up at Gene's on Thursday's with other classic car owners.

Hurst said he was devastated that Gene's was torn down. He decided to plan one last meet up at the empty lot where Gene's used to be.

Saturday, February 10 at 4:00 PM Hurst is hoping to get classic car owners together to eat and share stories.

Shasta Pizza will offer a discount for those at the meet up and Hurst is hoping to get a food truck there as well.

He said the classic car community is what makes these meet ups so special to him.

"This community means a lot to me because everyone is willing to help out and everyone's always got these good stories," Hurst said. "I love hearing stories. It's really just deep in my heart. I love everyone that's in this community."
